I laminated card stock and us it. I also made one for gluing with glue sticks. I use them full size to protect all the edges. It’s stuff I had on hand.

Thanks so much for this series. Think I have the nerve to put pen to paper now and not worry so much about whether is will be perfect just that it says what’s in my heart. Thank you so much for this series. I’m not an artist by any means. In fact almost flunked art class in school! But I’ve had so much fun, and my hubby has encouraged me to continue with it. He says it’s a creative way to get the Word in me.

Tracie, I have thoroughly enjoyed these 10 lessons of the beginner’s course. I have a question about books of the bible tabs. I got some at a bazaar this weekend that are so cute but wonder how to attach them to the pages. There is no adhesive on them. They are out of cardstock with a clear protection on the outside looks like heavy tape. What would you recommend? Also, I am going to try my first journal entry today.

I would recommend that you apply a bit of washi tape to your bible before you place the tabs down to reinforce the page. Then you can use double sided tape to stick them down, a xyron sticker machine, or acid-free glue. I hope this helps!
More more more! I loved your course! Before I knew anything about a Bible mat I made one out of quilt pattern plastic. Works great and it was something I had on hand. This is such an amazing hobby of sorts,it helps me stay close to God. Thank you again for your and in work for God †

I actually made a bible mat from a $2 plastic ring binder which sounds just like the cutting board you used, and it works perfectly! The leftovers I cut off, I use for scraping and mixing paint etc.

The Dollar store mats work just fine. The thing I like best is that you can adjust thee size for a smaller Bible or the larger interleaf Bible. I’m thinking the little Bible mat won’t work very well in the Illustrating Bible . You could use a whole sheet of the Dollar Store mat to come closer to the bigger size. Thanks for all of your ideas.
Video s were very helpful for beginners . I want to share with you and whoever may read this that I also made a homemade mat . I used a self laminating , lamination page that I already had in the house . I put nothing in the page and just took off the strip and let it seal …. then cut it to size . Very flexible and waterproof .

Hi Tracie, Thank you! This was fun. I wanted to mention that if cardboard is your only option–or in a pinch–you could probably cut up a cereal or cracker box. They would be thinner, smoother, and one side might have a bit of plastic coating on it.

Hi Tracie, Just an FYI the Illustrated Faith Bible Mat is no longer available through the link you provided via Amazon. I also could not find it on their website. They may not make it any longer. Doing a quick search of Amazon, there is no other plastic mat available for purchase. Guess we will all have to make our own.
