#3 Die Cutting Machine Deals

I own both the Brother Scan and Cut and the Silhouette Cameo 3. I love having the ability to scan a pdf into the Brother Scan and Cut machine and have it cut out the stickers, but sadly after having it for a whole year I still use the Cameo 3 20 times more. I love the Silhouette Cameo 3. My first Silhouette was purchased in May 23, 2012, for  $270. It still works great, but I wanted the extra blade and wireless functionality of the Cameo 3 so I use that machine all the time. #5 Other Journaling Bibles

My favorite place to purchase Bibles is Christianbook.com. Their prices are always less than Amazon unless Amazon decides to run a book promotion. We’ll post that to our Facebook Page if/when it becomes active.

#6 More Time

I save so much time by employing automation to help me around the house. I love my InstaPot pressure cooker, crock pot, and vacuums that do the work for me.  I always recommend that people try to find more time by employing tools that save you time.

If you’re looking to give your Bible journaler a little more time, here’s a few low or zero costs items that you might consider:

  • Precook meals
  • Take care of the kiddos
  • Do some of the Christmas shopping
  • Take over the Christmas cards
  • Grab takeout
  • Clean the house

I have a Brother Scan and Cut on my list this year. Mostly because I’m crazy busy and think that having the ability to scan a pdf into the machine and have it cut out the stickers will save me time. Bible journaling in its present form hasn’t been around for very long even though note-taking in the Bible has been around for decades. There’s something amazing when your right and left brain work in harmony to bring the story to life, and you finally make sense of it all. Bible journaling helps you remember the lessons, the stories, and verses and makes it easy to explain it to all ages. But, you must start at the beginning if you want to do it and not “ruin” your Bible. I put “ruin” in quotes because I don’t think you can ruin the Bible if you’re using it for what it’s intended to be used for — to build your knowledge of the Word, grow your relationship with God, and spread the good news.

More time to Bible journal is the leader of the best Bible journaling gifts according to a poll from our Facebook group of over 12,000 members. That makes a lot of sense. We are all busy, especially during the last quarter of the year. If you’re in retail or you deliver packages, it’s even worse. Not only do you have the stress of making end of year numbers, but you also have frantic shoppers, and packages to deliver. Of course, if you work in corporate, you’re busy too with year-end activities, planning, and hopefully a Christmas party or two. For moms like me, we’re attending school functions almost every week, and if we’re lucky, we may even bake a few goodies. But, truth be told, I’ll probably stop the by the bakery on my way to the cookie exchange. And no…I won’t tear off the label and pretend they’re mine. I’ll wear my “I cheated” shirt proudly because I’d rather be a little shamed than miss the gathering altogether.

Remember when you were young and you used to write the sweetest love letters? Yes…years ago. Those still work! Put your thoughts on paper, make a card (no it doesn’t need to be as good as the ones you see her make), frame a picture, put some non-toxic paint of your kid’s hand and make a print. The list is endless.

A New Journaling Bible

I love collecting and journaling in a new creative Bible. The newest Bible journal released on February 1, 2017, and is the first paraphrased creative Bible on the market. It’s called The Message Canvas Bible: Coloring and Journaling the Story of God by Eugene H. Peterson. The publisher is NavPress. It is simply a stunning Bible, and I should be getting one to review soon.

When buying a Bible, make sure you purchase a translation that she’ll like. The Message is more of a story as opposed to a word-for-word or thought-for-thought translation. However, the art in this Bible is enough to get anyone diving into the Word!

There are many other creative Bibles on the market, so feel free to use our Bible Journal selection tool to find one that best suits your gifting needs. The other two creative Bibles that are on my list are the KJV Creative Bible and the MEV Promises of God Bible.

For those starting out, The Starter kit by Illustrated Faith makes a great gift as well as the Genesis kit. If your budget is limited, I would recommend purchasing a journaling Bible and a few coloring pencils.

Stamps

I added a few stamps to my wish list. There are so many new Bible journaling stamp sets on the market these days. Spellbinders just released an entire set by Joanne Fink. It’s definitely on my list! Also on my list are these cute Angel stamps by The Greeting Farm. Geez, it doesn’t get much cuter than that.

If you buy stamps, remember you need a clear block,  ink and gesso to reduce bleed through.

The Best Mother’s Day Present

I could go on for days listing all of my favorite Bible journaling gift ideas for Mothers Day. But, then we’d be passed Sunday so I’d better stop here.
